This scenic"Mill Creek Overlook" is located on the western boundary of Cohutta Wilderness looking into the Mill Creek drainage, an important tributary of the Conasauga River. The view to the south west contains a portion of Grassy Mountain, elevation 3612'. The distant view to the west across the big valley is where the Conasauga River meanders through farms, communities, and industrialized areas. The foreground in view is the Chattahoochee National Forest. It is managed in cooperation with the Georgia Department of National Resources as the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area, the largest wildlife management area in Georgia. Inside the WMA, the DNR provides intensive management of wildlife populations and habitat improvements. The Forest Service and the DNR cooperatively improve habitat conditions to benefit numerous wildlife species. Habitats in the National Forest that are located outside Cohutta Wilderness can be manipulated to benefit specific wildlife needs with practices such as: tree thinning, prescribed burning, stand improvement, over seeding old roads, etc. The Forest Service is trying to remove unwanted plants such a fescue from some forest openings and replace it with rye and clover, a forage combination that helps native wildlife species sustain themselves through the critical late winter months. Much of the habitat work done on the National Forest is supplemented with funding from the Wild Turkey Federation.

This overlook platform was built by the forest Service with funds and materials provided by the Georgia DNR.
