The Cohutta Ranger District operates Lake Conasauga Campground on the headwaters of Mill Creek, a headwater stream of the Conasauga River. They offer 35 campsites (no electricity here at the top of the mountain) on this 17 acre lake built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corp. This popular destination is adjacent to a songbird management area that has a 1 and 1/2 mile trail. You can also observe an active beaver population when you hike the songbird observation trail. |
