Sound science is a major part of the work on the Conasauga. John Lugthart, of Dalton State College, is shown here with Shawn Clouse sampling aquatic insects. This type of research allows the scientist to see indicators of water quality throughout the watershed. Employees of The Nature Conservancy monitor for water quality parameters at eleven sites throughout the watershed. Data has been collected for stream health for over three years at these sites. Many of the partners in the Alliance have been researching fish, chemicals, mussels, and many more for decades in this pristine region.
