A local 4-H group has adopted a section of the Conasauga. Twice a year this enthusiastic group canoes the river, lead by Louis Dykes of the UGA Agricultural extension office as well as several volunteers, picking up trash and surveying the conditions of the river. The group has been cleaning and monitoring this stretch for nearly four years and continue to learn more each trip about the streams health. Here the volunteers are seen at the Bryant farm along the Conasaugas banks. There are many ways the community has become involved, from volunteering at cleanups, to folding newsletters, to hands on restoration work.
