Shawn Clouse, from The Nature Conservancy, tours Gary Grimm, of Mountain Visions, around the Cohutta Fish Hatchery. This Hatchery is the site of an intensive freshwater mussel propagation study. Mussels are being raised for release back into the Conasauga as well as being studied. Research is being conducted by the Tennessee Aquarium Research Institute on host fish for mussels, historical data, sediment toxicity, as well as overall freshwater mussel issues. The hatchery has been turned into a state of the art propagation facility as well as being renovated to house researchers and students.
