| Biology Professor Contributes to Watershed Awareness
John Lugthart, explains that he teaches introductory biology and environmental studies at Dalton State College. His interest through college was in aquatic insects and he has been very interested in what is going on in the Conasauga watershed. He has tried to help teach students about the importance of the river and what a unique resource we have in this area. At every opportunity he tries to get students involved in some way, whether is is a river cleanup or helping with the Conasauga River Alliance's programs. He notes that they have taken several field trips with the "Alliance" who have shown us the projects that are going on. At least a couple of students have gone on to help in other ways. For example, right now one is working with the mussel restoration project. He concludes that, mainly our goal is to educate people about the watershed.
