| Snorkeling Allows Close Look at Fish
The Conasauga River near the snorkeling hole is a place where people recreate. And classes meet to do research on fish species. Eight different kinds of fish are found in the Conasauga River that are not found anywhere else in the world. Swimming in the river with a mask allows people to see communities of fish, all with their own ways to survive. One of the most interesting is the Conasauga Logperch. With black bands on their long, slender yellow sides and their long snouts. They are amazing as they flip rocks to uncover their food of underwater insects. A nickname for the Logperch is the "tiger fish."
