Kudzu is a major problem for local landowners. The invasive plant is shown here eating a local. This pesky plant was brought over to the southeastern US in the 1930s from Japan, as a hoped for remedy to revegetate and stabilize eroding soil. Unfortunately, it began to spread aggressively across much of the south. The plant is well known for smothering all vegetation it comes in to contact with, eliminating the diversity of any area in which it grows.
